She has been called the “Femme Fatale of Funk,” by The Olympian, Newspaper. Pat Ferris of HOTBANDS says, “She is definitely the funkiest bass player I've seen in the entire country in the past 2 years! I'm also a bassist and can tend to be more critical than most people about how a band sounds, but I was more than humbled by her playing.” (www.hotbands.com)

Leah Hinchcliff has been a professional musician for over 20 years and is widely recognized as one of the NW’s premier bassists. As a first call studio musician she has recorded with many of the NW’s top recording artists including Swamp Mama Johnson, Nicole Campbell, Mark Bosnian (Nu Shooz, Body & Soul) and Lynn Frances Anderson. As a member of the successful Indie band Swamp Mama Johnson -- voted Seattle’s Best Band (1999) -- she toured North America, sold over an amazing 40,000 records (which can be heard on radio stations around the world!) and carved out her niche in the NW as a sought after and respected musician. Leah has backed up rock and roll legend Bo Diddley as well as emerging national artist Tracy Grammer.

She is equally comfortable on stage as in the studio and has been proud to participate in many festivals including The Portland Waterfront Blues Festival, The Fender/Catalina Island Blues Festival, and BluesStock (Memphis) and has also been seen on the television staple Oregon Today with Swamp Mama Johnson and folk singer/songwriter Tracy Grammer. Most weekends and several weeknights she can be heard fronting her own band, Voodoo BBQ (www.voodoobbqband.com), with her soulful voice and funky bass, or holding down the bottom edge with Portland’s premier soul band, Soul Vaccination (www.soulvax.com), and now with her renewed interest in jazz she is proud to be a member of Swamp Cactus – an original jazz project with Portland Keyboard whiz Jack Buddeke. Her original music is heard on film soundtracks, websites and radios stations around the world.
