Jack has been involved in the Northwest Music Community for more than 25 years. As a founding member of the Lon Guitarsky Group, he has established himself as a composer and ensemble player who values ensemble interaction and the potential synergy of the group process. He is an award-winning composer with a catalogue of over 100 compositions recorded in a variety of projects. The compositions cross all genres and are dedicated to evolving the culture of new music.
Jack has a Piano Performance Degree in Jazz Studies from Portland State University where he was the recipient of The Mel Brown Award and also graduated with honors. He is on track to finish a Guitar Performance degree in the next year and uses the cross-pollination of the 2 instruments to great benefit in his composing and arranging. An active teacher, with over 20 current students in all genres, his students range from recreational to professional in their aspirations.
Jack worked for 15 years as a Class A PGA Golf Professional where he taught and helped run numerous businesses. This experience has been extremely valuable in dealing with the non-musical aspects of the music business, especially in the teaching arena. Because of his experiences in studying learning styles and teaching students with disabilities, he has great compassion and excitement for the learning process.
His most current projects are SWAMP CACTUS with his fellow Portland State players and ART ON A BUDGET with Mike Snyder, Kevin Dietz, and Jeff Homan. |
